1.) Where are you located?

Valz Surf Lessons teaches surfing lessons at 4100 Seawall Blvd. (41st St. and Seawall Blvd. across from Golf Cart Rentals.)

2.) What are your hours?

We are open seasonally by appointment and offer surf lessons daily from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm weather permitting.

3.) Do you have an age requirement?

Participants must be 8 years of age or older.

4.) Do participants need to know how to swim?

Yes, since this is an in-water activity, all participants must know how to swim well.

5.) How long is a lesson?

Lessons are 1-2 hours in length.

6.) What is included in the lesson?

All lessons include a long instruction surfboard for you to use and professional instruction.

7.) What do I need to bring?

Participants should arrive in their swimsuit. Please bring sunscreen, a towel, and something to drink (such as bottled water).

8.) Does Galveston get good waves?

The Texas Gulf Coast receives an average of 200 storms per year bringing lots of surf to Galveston Island. The coastline here on the island stretches several miles and continually and evenly breaks so there is plenty of room for everyone to surf without bumping into another surfer.

9.) Is it safe?

Staying safe and having fun while learning how to surf is our number one priority. You will have an experienced instructor with you at all times in the water that is versed in water safety.

10.) What forms of payment do you accept?

You can pre-pay for your lessons using a credit card via PayPal or Venmo, or you can pay cash at the beach before your lesson. Please note, we cannot process credit card payments at the beach. All credit card payments must be made in advance via PayPal or Venmo.

11.) Do you charge a cancellation fee for canceled lessons?

Yes, the cancellation fee if you cancel your lesson is $10. You must cancel within a minimum of 24-hours before your scheduled lesson.

12.) Do you offer refunds if I miss my lesson or don't show up?

No, unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds (or credits of any type) for missed lessons, cancellations with less than 24-hours notice, or "No-Shows." We are a small business and when you reserve your lesson, your spot it is held for you. Without a minimum of 24-hours notice, we are unable to book someone else for your reserved time slot.

13.) Do you offer a military discount?

We are happy to offer a 10% discount to our active and retired military personnel. Doug is an Air Force veteran.

14.) Can you recommend any local surf shops?

Some of our favorite surf shops are Strictly Hardcore Surf Specialties, Southern Spears, and Ohana Surf & Skate.
